He was named after Hall of Fame second baseman Ryne Sandberg despite being born into a family of St. Louis Cardinals fans…is seeking to become just the third "Ryne" in major league history, following Sandberg and All-Star RH Ryne Duren…Stanek's manager in Triple-A Durham last year was Sandberg's nephew, Jared Sandberg...He was born into a family of athletes…his father, Mark, played baseball in college, and mother, Lisa, played volleyball…his younger brother, Brendan, is transferring to play ball at Pitt State (Divison II) while his sister, Alex, plays high school softball...Ryne attended the MLB Rookie Career Development Program in January along with Willy Adames, Jacob Faria and Daniel Robertson…the four-day orientation program included media training, time management and financial planning...Ryne owns a German Shepherd and German Shorthaired Pointer.
