ARLINGTON -- A crew chief review of Curt Casali's double went against the Rays in the second inning of their game against the Rangers at Globe Life Park.
With one out in the second, Casali hit a drive to left field. The ball landed above the scoreboard, but the umpiring crew led by Joe West ruled the ball was in play and Casali finished with a double. Rays manager Joe Maddon asked for a home run review and got one.
Following a two-minute review, the call on the field was confirmed.
Since it was a crew chief review, it did not count against the Rays, who kept intact their challenge for future use.
After a Kevin Kiermaier groundout, Brandon Guyer belted a two-run homer to give Tampa Bay a 5-0 lead.
