BRADENTON, Fla. -- Wil Myers had to leave the Rays' split-squad, 6-3 win over the Pirates on Saturday in the third inning after fouling a ball off his right leg.

Myers was diagnosed with a bruised right quad, and was removed for precautionary reasons.

Myers beat a 1-and-2 pitch from Edinson Volquez down into his leg, and limped around for a few minutes under the watch of acting manager Dave Martinez and trainer Paul Harker before leaving the field.

Jerry Sands hit for Myers and struck out -- that strikeout being charged to Myers, who had grounded out in the first inning.
