TB donates to The Children's Home after Lobaton's HR

ST. PETERSBURG -- Jose Lobaton's walk-off home run against the Red Sox in Game 3 of the American League Division Series landed in the Rays Touch Tank. Thanks to his epic blow, the Rays Baseball Foundation will write a $5,000 check to The Children's Home in Tampa.

Lobaton's blast gave the Rays their first home run into the 35-foot, 10,000 gallon tank that contains live rays caught in the waters of Tampa Bay. Only the Tigers' Miguel Cabrera (2013) and the Dodgers' Luis Gonzalez (2007) had previously completed the feat.

As a result, the Rays pledged a $5,000 donation to the Florida Aquarium (curators of the tank) and $5,000 to the charity of Lobaton's choice -- The Children's Home.

Lobaton will visit The Children's Home on Tuesday at 5 p.m. ET to present the check as well as deliver ice cream from Sweetbay Supermarket to the residents, volunteers and staff.
