ST. PETERSBURG -- Joe Maddon was ejected from Tuesday night's 6-4 loss the Blue Jays.

The ejection came after home-plate umpire Marty Foster called out Sean Rodriguez, who was trying to score from third base on a bunt in the second inning.

Replays showed that the sliding Rodriguez snuck his hand under the glove of catcher J.P. Arencibia and touched home. Foster ruled otherwise, prompting Maddon to rush from the dugout. Maddon engaged Foster, and seconds later was ejected.

"I just thought that it was an inappropriate call at the time and I didn't like the explanation, either," Maddon said. "So all of that stuff, I felt as though I needed to make a point. We've had several moments this past month that have gone against us and I'm really not happy about that. So I made my point, I got out of there, I thought it was an inappropriate call."

This is not the first time Foster was involved in a disputed call with the Rays this season. On April 8 in Texas, he called out Ben Zobrist looking to end the game on a pitch that appeared way out of the strike zone. The veteran umpire later apologized for missing the call.

Maddon's ejection was the 29th of his career and second this season. He was thrown out in the fifth inning of the Rays-Orioles contest in Baltimore on April 17.
