BALTIMORE -- Joe Maddon received his first ejection of the season in the top of the fifth inning Wednesday night in Baltimore.
Maddon ran onto the field to confront second-base umpire Brian Knight in the aftermath of a strike-em-out, throw-em-out double play.
Ben Zobrist swung at strike three for the first out of the inning, and Orioles catcher Matt Wieters threw to second base to nail Kelly Johnson trying to steal for the second out.
Asked if he saw the video replay, Maddon said: "I did. I think I was right. I thought his foot got in there. And I thought it was in there from the dugout. And I thought I had a legitimate beef right there."
For his conversation with Knight, Maddon received his 28th career ejection.
