FOX Sports Florida/Sun Sports and Knology, Inc. announced Tuesday an agreement that will provide all Rays regional telecasts on the two regional sports networks to Knology's customers in Florida.
Beginning with Tuesday night's telecast of the Rays-Mariners game at 10 p.m. ET from Seattle, Knology's customers in Pinellas County and Panama City will now see Sun Sports' package of Rays game telecasts, added just this season, in addition to the Tampa Bay games offered on FOX Sports Florida.
The networks' 2009 Rays TV schedule includes a total of 150 games -- 75 on FOX Sports Florida and 75 on Sun Sports -- with 137 remaining on the schedule this season -- 67 on Sun Sports and 70 on FOX Sports Florida.
In addition to the standard definition telecast on Sun Sports, Tuesday night's game will also be available to Knology customers with HD service in Pinellas County only on their HD channel 909.
"This is great news for Tampa Bay Rays fans in these Florida markets," said Steve Liverani, senior vice president/general manager of FOX Sports Florida and Sun Sports, in a statement. "The Rays enjoyed tremendous success last season with their first-ever ALCS title and interest in the team is especially high again this season. This agreement ensures that Knology customers in Florida will now have access to the full schedule of Rays games on our two regional sports networks."
With their year-round coverage of Florida sports, FOX Sports Florida and Sun Sports are available as part of Knology's expanded basic service. Pinellas County customers can tune to FOX Sports Florida on channel 54 and Sun Sports on channel 52. Panama City customers can tune to FOX Sports Florida on channel 25 and Sun Sports on channel 22.
