ST. PETERSBURG -- The Rays will be hosting two free public events next week to celebrate their first trip to the postseason.
The club's postseason rally will take place on Monday at 5 p.m. ET at Straub Park in downtown St. Petersburg. The event, presented by Budweiser and the St. Petersburg Times, will have all Rays players and coaches on hand and feature a free concert by multi-platinum recording artists Survivor. The group will perform '80s hits as "Eye of the Tiger," "High on You" and "I Can't Hold Back".
The club will also offer a variety of family-friendly activities, including interactive areas for kids featuring the Rays Street Team, inflatable Wiffle Ball, speed pitch machines and free Mohawk haircuts. Food and beverages will be provided, and fans planning to attend are encouraged to park in the city's Baywalk garage.
On Tuesday, the club will host a free Party in the Park event at Tampa's Lykes Gaslight Park from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. The Ray Team and the Rays Street Team will be on hand and free hot dogs, peanuts and Cracker Jack will be handed out, as well as free food from Smokey Bones. There will also be an interactive zone where participants can play for a chance to win Rays prizes.
The latest Rays postseason merchandise will be available at both events, as well as in the Rays Tampa store, which is located across the street from the park at 400 N. Tampa St.
The Rays postseason rally is also scheduled to be simulcast live on both FSN Florida & Sun Sports and will replay on Tuesday from 11 p.m.-12:30 a.m. and from 9-10:30 p.m.
Rays postseason ticket packages will be made available to those who place deposits on 2009 Rays season tickets.
