Cash ejected for arguing after Souza strikeout

OAKLAND -- Rays manager Kevin Cash was ejected in the fifth inning of Tuesday night's 4-3 win over the A's.

Cash was arguing a called strike three on Rays outfielder Steven Souza Jr., who himself was protesting the call, when home-plate umpire Bill Welke ejected Cash. It was the third ejection of the year for Cash and the seventh of his career.

This was the second straight game that the Rays had a member of their team ejected for arguing a called third strike. Infielder Tim Beckham received his first career ejection Monday night in Oakland in the fourth inning.
