Scott Kazmir hopes to continue his success against the Red Sox on Tuesday night, when the Devil Rays play the second game of their three-game series at Fenway Park.
The left-hander boasts a 5-3 record and 2.55 ERA in 13 career appearances against the American League East-leading Red Sox.
Kazmir has been on a roll lately, with six consecutive quality starts. His latest came on Thursday, when he hurled six shutout innings in an 8-1 win over the Tigers. Kazmir pitched six scoreless innings against the Red Sox the last time he faced them, picking up a no-decision on July 29 in a 5-2 Rays win.
Boston's Jon Lester has struggled in his last three starts. In his last outing, the left-hander gave up eight hits and walked three, only escaping a loss when the Red Sox were able to tie the game after he'd exited. Lester faced Tampa Bay in his second outing, also a no-decision. This will be his first game at Fenway Park since returning to action after a successful battle with lymphoma.
After finishing with the Red Sox, the Rays will enjoy an off-day before returning to Tropicana Field to begin a homestand against the Indians, Red Sox and A's.
