Jackson takes aim at second victory

Edwin Jackson will get the starting nod for the Devil Rays on Wednesday afternoon, when they meet the Red Sox in the second game of their three-game series at Fenway Park.

Jackson has been showing signs of life lately and enjoyed his best start of the season against the Indians on Friday night, holding the Tribe to one run on six hits and two walks while striking out six over six innings. Jackson showed good fastball command and a mound presence unseen this season, striking out the final three batters he faced.

Tim Wakefield will start for the Red Sox after getting through Friday night's outing at Fenway Park when his knuckler didn't have its normal dancing action. He allowed 11 Rangers baserunners but just one run over 6 1/3 innings, working his way out of some difficult situations to earn a 2-1 win. Wakefield has dominated the Rays over his career, going 15-2 with a 2.91 ERA in 32 appearances -- including 22 starts -- against Tampa Bay.

After finishing with the Red Sox, the Rays will travel to Kansas City to finish out the first half with three games against the Royals.
