Seo stifles Twins in Rays' loss

Twins at the plate: Michael Cuddyer had a double off the Rays' J.P. Howell in the fourth inning. Cuddyer is hitting .300 for the spring with two doubles and a home run. Steve Tolleson had a double off Ruddy Lugo in the eighth in his first at-bat of the spring. Denard Span, who attended high school in Tampa, got an RBI single in the eighth to score Tolleson. Eli Tentor's leadoff triple in the ninth, along with singles by Justin Morneau and Jason Kubel, ignited a three-run, game-winning rally.

Rays at the plate: Shawn Riggans smacked an opposite-field double in the third inning. Riggans is in contention to win the backup catching position this spring. Jorge Cantu had his first RBI of the spring when he delivered a sacrifice fly in the fourth. Non-roster invitee Dustan Mohr hit a solo home run off Tristan Crawford.

Twins on the mound: Carlos Silva started and held the Rays scoreless for three innings, allowing just one hit while striking out three. Matt Garza had to leave the game with a stiff neck after throwing two pitches to the third batter he faced in the fourth.

Rays on the mound: Jae Seo started for the Rays and got some help in the field from Jonny Gomes in right field, who made a diving catch of Nick Punto's sinking liner in the first, and shortstop B.J. Upton, who stabbed Justin Morneau's pop foul. Seo retired all six batters he faced in two innings worked. Tim Corcoran pitched a perfect fifth.

Grapefruit League records: Twins 1-4-1; Rays 2-3.

Up next: The Twins will host the Dodgers in at 1:05 p.m. ET contest at Fort Myers; right-hander Ramon Ortiz will start for the Twins. The Rays will host the Reds at Progress Energy Park in a 1:05 contest; right-hander James Shields will start for the Rays and will be followed by right-handers Gary Glover, Brian Stokes, Al Reyes, Andy Sonnanstine, and Juan Sala
